Smith & Smith Kitchens is a long-established custom cabinetmaking business based in Rowville. We design, manufacture and install high-quality kitchens, laundries, robes, vanities and custom residential joinery throughout Melbourne.

We are looking for an experienced Cabinet Maker / Installer who takes pride in detailed work, presents professionally on site and can deliver a finished result that reflects the quality of our brand.

This is not volume flat-pack installation. Our work is custom, varied and detail-focused, supported by an experienced factory and office team.

About the role

You will be responsible for installing custom cabinetry and joinery in clients’ homes across Melbourne. Most of our work is residential, with a focus on custom kitchens and associated joinery.

You will work from detailed plans and job information, with support from our factory, check measure and administration team. The role requires accuracy, practical problem-solving and the ability to communicate professionally with clients, and other trades.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of an installation,



resolve normal site issues sensibly and leave the client with confidence in the quality of the finished job.

Your responsibilities will include

- Installing custom kitchens, laundries, robes, vanities and residential joinery
- Reading and working from plans, elevations and job specifications
- Scribing, levelling, fixing and adjusting cabinetry accurately
- Fitting panels, fillers, doors, drawers, hardware and finishing details
- Carrying out minor modifications and practical problem-solving on site
- Identifying and communicating site issues clearly and early
- Working neatly, safely and respectfully in clients’ homes
- Representing Smith & Smith Kitchens professionally on site

About you

You will ideally be a trade-qualified cabinet maker with strong installation experience. More importantly, you will have pride in your work, strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently on site.

You will need:

- Experience installing custom kitchens and residential joinery
- Strong cabinetmaking knowledge and practical installation skills
- Ability to scribe, adjust, modify and resolve site issues
- Ability to read plans and understand detailed joinery drawings
- Good communication skills and professional presentation
- White Card preferred
- Own tools and vehicle preferred, especially for subcontract applicants
- ABN and public liability insurance required for subcontract applicants

Employment arrangement

We are open to the right person joining us as either:

- a full time employed installer;
- an experienced subcontract installer with ABN, insurance, tools and vehicle.

The right fit is more important to us than the exact arrangement.

We are looking for someone who cares about the finished result. The successful applicant will be reliable, practical, detail-focused and comfortable working in clients’ homes.

You do not need to be the fastest installer in Melbourne. We are more interested in someone who is organised, accurate, respectful and able to complete work to a high standard.
