About Our Team

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Western Australia offer support, advice and treatment to children and adolescents from birth to 18 years who are experiencing mental health challenges.

The Complex Attention and Hyperactivity Disorders Service (CAHDS) is a statewide service supporting children and young people under 18 years of age, along with their families, who experience ongoing difficulties with attention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity.

CAHDS works with children and young people who have a confirmed diagnosis of ADHD and who are currently receiving treatment for challenges related to inattention, hyperactive behaviour, or impulse control.

What CAHDS Provides

CAHDS conducts comprehensive multidisciplinary assessments to identify a child or young person’s strengths and challenges, and to assess for other mental health conditions that may co‑occur with ADHD. The service does not provide ongoing treatment; instead, it delivers detailed assessment outcomes and management recommendations, working in partnership with referrers and other services to support ongoing care.

Assessments may include input from the following disciplines:

- Psychosocial assessment (examining psychological and social factors influencing mental health)
- Speech pathology
- Occupational therapy
- Neuropsychology
- Psychiatry

About the Role

Grade 1 Clinical Neuropsychologist – Position Profile:

As a Grade 1 Clinical Neuropsychologist you will deliver high-quality neuropsychological services within a multidisciplinary team, working under the approved supervision of a Clinical Neuropsychologist. The role focuses on assessment and management of children and adolescents with conditions known to affect brain development, ensuring comprehensive clinical care, team-oriented intervention planning, and meaningful engagement with families, schools, and referral agencies.

Key Accountabilities (Grade 1)

- Conduct comprehensive neuropsychological assessments to evaluate cognitive, emotional, behavioural, and developmental functioning using interviews, observations, and standardised psychometric tools.
- Provide clear assessment feedback, evidence-based recommendations, and interventions to clients, families, schools, and referring agencies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to contribute to clinical decision-making and coordinated care planning.




- Provide consultation and advice on neuropsychological matters to colleagues and internal and external stakeholders.
- Engage in regular supervision and professional development toward endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Contribute to education, training, and applied clinical research activities as required.
- Maintain accurate client records, comply with guidelines for testing materials and government property, and participate in continuous performance monitoring and improvement.
- Actively participate in intake, psychology, department, and service meetings as required.

An appointee may progress to Clinical Neuropsychologist Grade 2 upon successful completion of a Board-approved supervised period of practice and obtaining endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Grade 2 Clinical Neuropsychologist – Position Profile:

As a Grade 2 Clinical Neuropsychologist, you will provide high-quality specialist neuropsychological services within a multidisciplinary team to children and adolescents with conditions known to affect brain development. The role involves comprehensive assessment, consultation, education, and collaboration with families, schools, referrers, and other professionals to support effective clinical management and intervention planning. You will also contribute to workforce development through supervision of registrars and trainees, while maintaining strong clinical governance, quality, and professional standards.

Key Accountabilities (Grade 2)

- Conduct comprehensive neuropsychological assessments to evaluate cognitive, emotional, behavioural, and developmental functioning using interviews, observations, and standardised psychometric and psycho‑diagnostic tools.
- Provide timely and meaningful assessment feedback, evidence-based recommendations, and interventions to individuals, families, schools, and referring agencies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to inform clinical decision-making and coordinated care planning.
- Provide specialist consultation and advice on neuropsychological matters to colleagues and internal and external stakeholders.
- Liaise with referrers and external agencies,



including schools, regarding assessment outcomes, recommendations, and ongoing case management.
- Deliver education and training on neuropsychological topics within discipline and across disciplines.
- Provide supervision to Clinical Neuropsychology Registrars toward endorsement and supervising Clinical Neuropsychology trainees as required.
- Participate in applied clinical and evaluative research activities.
- Maintain accurate client records and statistical data in accordance with departmental requirements.
- Participate in intake, service, psychology, and departmental meetings as required.
- Engage in ongoing performance development and supervision in consultation with the Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist Coordinator.
- Comply with guidelines for the use, maintenance, and selection of psychological assessment tools and other government property.
- Contribute to policy development, quality improvement initiatives, and internal audit activities within the Complex Attention and Hyperactivity Disorders Service.

Qualifications and Requirements

- Master's or Doctoral degree in Clinical Neuropsychology (essential).
- Eligibility for full registration and Clinical Neuropsychology Registrar status with the Psychology Board of Australia (Grade 1) or endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology (Grade 2).
- Evidence of experience in conducting neuropsychological assessments with children and adolescents.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and quality improvement.
