Overview

Carevo connects disability employment consultants with NDIS and aged care providers across Australia. You register once and providers reach out to you directly, without you needing to chase job ads.

How it works

- You build a profile with your qualifications, availability, and the areas you can work.
- Carevo presents your profile to providers in our network who need consultants.
- If a provider sees a fit, they contact you directly. You decide which conversations to take.

Who you would support

You would support a wide range of people, from young people leaving school to adults returning to work after injury or a long break. Some are job-ready; others need months of preparation and steady encouragement. A portion of the work involves School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) and related programs transitioning to a more versatile model by mid-2027.

Responsibilities and work split

- Work directly with participants to identify skills and interests, build a plan, write resumes, practice interviews, and arrange work experience or trials.
- Engage with local employers to negotiate flexible hours, workplace adjustments, and other arrangements.
- Provide on-the-job support and periodic check-ins after placement to help ensure job lasting.

Pay and working arrangements

Pay is set by the provider and typically falls under the SCHADS Award. Classification, hours, and whether you are an employee or contractor determine the exact rate. Roles may be full-time, part-time, or casual, with a mix of office work, travel, and community appointments. Terms are discussed directly with the provider before starting.

Required qualifications

- Experience helping people with disability prepare for,

find, and keep open employment.
- Understanding of the Inclusive Employment Australia program (replacing DES from 1 November 2025).
- Knowledge of NDIS employment supports, including Finding and Keeping a Job and School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES).
- Confidence engaging local employers to identify roles and arrange workplace adjustments.
- Skills in job coaching, resume writing, interview preparation, and on-the-job support.
- Certificate IV in Employment Services (CHC42008 or CHC41115), or relevant experience in employment, community services, or disability support.
- Clear written communication for case notes and provider reporting.
- Reliable vehicle and current driver’s licence for travel to workplaces and community appointments.
- Ability to manage a caseload and work independently.

Checks and credentials

- Police check and NDIS Worker Screening Check may be required; you can register availability before each check is finalised.
- Cost and timing vary by check and state; typical ranges include around $50–$80 for some checks and up to several hundred dollars for others, with processing times ranging from days to weeks.
- Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle recommended; licence renewal costs vary by state.

Disability employment consultant pay

Consultants are commonly paid under the SCHADS Award social and community services stream, with hourly rates typically reflecting weekdays and weekend differentials. Rates vary by provider and may be higher under an enterprise agreement.

How getting care work compares

- Carevo vs job board: Carevo offers a model where you register once and providers reach out, rather than applying to fixed listings.
- Comparison with care agency: Carevo provides ongoing availability and direct provider contact, while agencies manage shifts and assignments.
- Ongoing effort: Keep profile and availability current to stay in consideration.
