We're looking for an experienced Open Pit Mining Engineer to join our Perth-based consulting team on a fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity to work on challenging projects with major mining clients while enjoying a flexible hybrid work arrangement.
About the Role
You will provide tactical and strategic mine planning support across multiple client engagements, applying your technical expertise to deliver high-quality planning outcomes.
Work Arrangement
Hybrid working (office, client site and work from home)
Approximately one day per week working from home
Approximately one day per week visiting client mine sites (generally within one hour of Perth)
Limited overall site travel
Key Responsibilities
Develop short, medium and long-term open pit mine plans and schedules
Complete end-to-end reconciliation of development, production and rehabilitation activities
Provide technical mine planning support across consulting projects
Analyse and optimise mining scenarios using industry-leading software (Alastri APS, Deswik and similar)
Prepare high-quality technical reports and client deliverables
Essential Requirements
Degree in Mining Engineering (or equivalent)
Minimum 5 years' experience in open pit mine planning
Strong experience in strategic mine planning
Hands-on proficiency with Alastri APS
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Full Australian working rights
Desirable
Practical open pit operational/site experience
Experience with Deswik
Interest or experience in AI applications within the mining industry
