About the Hospital

The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Vision is “A world where all kids thrive”. Founded in 1870, RCH has cared for children and young people of Victoria for more than 150 years. It offers a full range of paediatrics and adolescent health services, including tertiary and quaternary care for critically ill and medically complex patients across Australia and overseas. RCH employs over 6,000 staff, runs 12 wards with 350 beds, and annually handles 300,000+ specialist clinic appointments, 90,000+ emergency department presentations and 20,000 elective surgeries.

About the Department

The Department of Nutrition and Food Services incorporates the clinical dietetic service, the Main Kitchen (inpatient meals) and the Central Formula Room (enteral feeds). It is a registered NDIS provider.

Role

Grade 2 casual dietitian. This role does not include weekend work. The dietitian will provide high‑quality nutritional care to paediatric patients and their families in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Shifts are intermittent and workload varies by vacancy. Acute paediatric inpatient experience across a variety of units is required.

Responsibilities

- Work as a member of a multi‑disciplinary team to ensure patient care is integrated and effective.
- Provide nutritional care to paediatric patients (inpatients and outpatients)



and offer nutritional support across specialist/medical units.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including food service and formula room staff, to ensure patient and ward needs are addressed effectively.

Qualifications and Experience

- Eligibility for full Membership of Dietitians Australia.
- Eligibility for the Accredited Practising Dietitian Program.
- Minimum 2 years of acute paediatric dietetic experience.

Other Requirements

- Current National Criminal Record Check, or willingness to obtain.
- Valid Working with Children Check.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain.
- Compliance with RCHs Staff Immunisation procedure for prevention of vaccine‑preventable diseases.
