Utility-Scale Wind Farm Construction Project – South Australia: HSE Advisor (1x)
Duration: 2.5 years. Site / Employment: Located approximately 2 hours north of Adelaide; worked Monday to Friday, 10 hours per day.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Principal’s on-site HSE Representative, providing authoritative guidance and oversight.
- Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring strict adherence to all HSE regulations, site protocols, and project requirements.
- Monitor, audit, and report on HSE compliance for all contractors in alignment with approved management plans, project agreements, and statutory approvals.
- Develop project-specific HSE audit tools and methodologies as required.
- Conduct ongoing audit tracking, closeout reporting, and performance monitoring.
- Prepare comprehensive HSE reporting, including contractor performance, incidents, hazards, hours worked, and other metrics for monthly and project-wide reporting.
- Identify gaps or non-compliances within contractor HSE plans and drive timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Oversee and verify the implementation of the Project HSE Management System, ensuring compliance with Australian legislation, client standards, and GHD requirements.
- Plan, schedule, and execute systematic audits of contractor safety management systems.
- Conduct HSE job reviews, inspections, and lead field-based assurance activities.
- Collaborate closely with client teams and contractors to support a unified and proactive safety culture.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Health, Safety and Environment or a related discipline.
- Experience with HSE systems in the renewable energy sector, particularly wind farm or large-scale construction projects, highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of current HSE issues and demonstrated ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and statutory requirements.
- Field/project experience aligned with the complexity and scope of large construction or energy projects.
- Proven ability to guide and manage contractors and resources in the delivery of HSE services.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, motivate, and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to manage pressure, resolve conflict, and make reasoned decisions in challenging environments.
- Committed to fostering a high-performance, collaborative, and safety-focused culture.
- HSE Auditor qualification (highly advantageous).
- Comfortable working independently in remote environments and managing competing priorities.
- Professional, resilient, and diplomatic in all interactions.
- Solid capability in problem‑solving, teamwork, time management, adaptability, and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, sustainability, and risk management excellence.
