About the Role
Reporting to the WHS Manager, the Senior Work Health & Safety Advisor will partner with operational leaders to drive continuous improvement in safety performance, risk management and compliance outcomes.
This role is ideal for an experienced WHS Advisor with a strong foundation in the mining sector who is ready to take on broader responsibilities and contribute to the development of our safety systems and culture.
You will be a visible and trusted safety leader, working closely with site‑based teams to deliver practical solutions that support both operational success and the wellbeing of our people.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert WHS advice, coaching and support to Regional and Site Leadership Teams
- Partner with operational leaders to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Lead and facilitate incident investigations, ICAM investigations and corrective actions
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, inspections and hazard management activities
- Support the ongoing development and enhancement of WHS management systems
- Analyse safety performance trends and prepare meaningful WHS reports and insights
- Provide guidance on legislative compliance, industry standards and best practice
- Support injury management and return‑to‑work processes
- Mentor and influence operational personnel to strengthen safety leadership capability
- Champion proactive safety behaviours and a positive reporting culture
- Utilise MYOSH and other safety management systems to drive effective safety outcomes
- Travel to operational sites approximately once per month
About You
You are a confident and influential WHS professional with a strong operational understanding of the mining industry. You enjoy building relationships, coaching leaders, and finding practical solutions that improve safety performance without compromising operational effectiveness.
Essential Requirements
- Current Australian working rights
- Current C‑Class Driver’s Licence
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety
- ICAM Lead Investigator qualification
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a WHS role within the mining, resources or heavy industry sector
- Strong working knowledge of WA WHS legislation and industry requirements
- Demonstrated experience implementing and improving WHS systems, programmes and initiatives
- Ability to build credibility and influence stakeholders at all levels of the business
- Strong report writing, communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively within a team setting
Highly Regarded
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Experience with behavioural safety programs and initiatives
- Experience supporting multiple operational sites or regions
- Exposure to mining contractor environments
