About the role:
The Employment Pathways & Programs Officer is a pivotal role, working across the organisation to lead employment pathway programs including student placements, work experience and volunteering opportunities. The role builds staff capability, fosters meaningful community and participant engagement, and collaborates with key internal and external stakeholders to create pathways into learning, workforce participation and employment.
Reporting to the Head of Talent Acquisition, you'll be exposed to a proactive and contemporary People & Culture workplace and have the opportunity to contribute to broader departmental initiatives, while growing your expertise in talent attraction, workforce development, volunteering and employment pathway programs.
You will:
- Develop and grow employment pathway initiatives, including student placements and work experience programs.
- Lead and enhance Council's volunteer program.
- Build strategic partnerships with education providers, employers and community organisations.
- Provide expert advice and support to employees and managers across Council on volunteer programs, student placements, work experience opportunities and employment pathway initiatives.
- Build organisational capability by supporting managers and supervisors to effectively engage, onboard and support volunteers, students and work experience participants.
- Facilitate the development of sustainable employment pathway opportunities that align with Council's workforce, community and talent development objectives.
- Support talent acquisition and workforce development activities across the organization.
About you:
- You have experience designing and delivering programs that create meaningful opportunities for work experience, student placement or volunteering.
- You are a skilled relationship builder who can establish and maintain productive partnerships with community organisations, schools, universities, TAFEs, employers and internal stakeholders.
- You proactively identify emerging employment pathway, workforce participation, education and funding opportunities, leveraging market insights, stakeholder networks and partnerships to enhance Council's programs and community outcomes.
- You bring strong project management and organisational skills, with experience coordinating multiple initiatives and delivering measurable outcomes.
- You are a confident communicator with the ability to engage,
influence and support diverse stakeholder groups.
- You have knowledge of volunteer management, workforce development, student placements and work experience programs, and are passionate about creating pathways that benefit both individuals and the community.
- You hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Human Resources, Education or a related field.
