I'm hiring founding senior engineers to help build an AI-native Insurtech in Sydney. And I mean AI-native, not AI-flavoured.
Honesty up front: this isn't a role where you're handed a ticket and a spec. We're small, the surface area is huge, and you'll own meaningful parts of the system end to end. Modern tech stack, languages such as Rust and TypeScript, shipping real product fast without dropping the quality bar.
What I'm looking for: A genuine polyglot, full-stack engineer - happy in any language, picks the right tool for the job. How you think matters far more to me than what you've used. Someone already AI-native in their own work Real agentic engineering, not prompt theatre, with the judgement to direct and review what the agents produce.
A track record of building AI-native production-grade systems that actually went to production and stayed up. A high bar on testing, security and auditability. We're in a regulated space,
so "it seems to work" isn't enough.Experience with modern development tools and workflows (version control, CI/CD, automated testing).Hands-on expertise in Back-End Development, including building and maintaining APIs and MCPs.Familiarity with cloud platforms and distributed systems, experience with AI or data-intensive applications A founding role is available within a new startup funded by Deck2 Capital (deck2cap.com).
Deck2 acquires profitable digital insurance companies, while our operating arm, Cove (joincove.ai), is responsible for running and growing them. Cove hires for this role, but you'll work within a new venture that has acquired a profitable insurance business.
