Senior Solutions Engineer / Forward Deployed Engineer

AI and Developer Platforms | Australia - This is not your average Solutions Engineer role.

We are partnering with one of the world’s leading developer technology companies as it expands its presence in Australia. The business is helping shape how modern software and AI-powered applications are designed, built and operated.

We are looking for a commercially minded, hands-on engineer who can move comfortably between an executive conversation, a customer workshop, a whiteboard and production code.

You might come from consulting, solutions architecture, forward deployment, sales engineering or hands-on technical leadership. What matters is your ability to uncover a real business problem, design the right technical solution and take ownership through to production.

This is not a pure pre-sales role. You will remain deeply involved after the deal is signed, helping customers build, launch, scale and improve production systems.

The opportunity

You will embed closely with engineering teams at ambitious startups, scale-ups and enterprise organisations, helping them adopt modern AI and developer technologies.

You will lead technical discovery, design future-state architectures, build proofs of concept and turn early ideas into reliable production systems. You will work across AI applications, agentic workflows, developer tooling, modern web platforms and cloud infrastructure.

Some engagements may begin with a customer asking how AI could improve their engineering workflow. Others may involve designing an agentic application, modernising an existing platform, running a technical evaluation or helping a team standardise on a recent architecture.

Your job is to work out what is genuinely holding the customer back, define what success looks like and own the solution from discovery through delivery and ongoing adoption.

What you’ll do

- Lead technical discovery with engineering leaders, developers and executives to understand customer challenges, technical constraints and commercial objectives
- Translate ambiguous business problems into clear technical scopes, architectures and measurable success criteria
- Design modern AI, agentic and web application architectures across frontends, APIs, models, data, cloud infrastructure and third-party integrations
- Build AI-powered workflows and applications using LLMs, agents, RAG, APIs, tool calling,



evaluation frameworks and observability platforms
- Create technical demonstrations, workshops and reference applications that show how the technology can solve real customer problems
- Own proofs of concept and customer pilots from beginning to end, including implementation, troubleshooting, documentation and executive-level outcomes
- Ship an initial solution quickly, then harden it into a secure, scalable and reliable production system
- Remain hands-on across TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, modern web frameworks, APIs and cloud services
- Help customers handle model behaviour, evaluation, tracing, latency, cost, reliability and failure modes in production
- Guide architecture, migrations, onboarding, security reviews, performance optimisation and platform adoption
- Work closely with Sales during the evaluation process while maintaining credibility as a technical advisor to the customer
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to resolve customer blockers and influence the product roadmap
- Turn successful customer solutions into reusable playbooks, reference architectures, example repositories and implementation patterns
- Share insights from the field and act as the technical voice of the customer
- Contribute to technical content, customer workshops, industry events and developer education

You may be a strong fit if you

- Have significant experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Architect, Forward Deployed Engineer, Sales Engineer, Technical Consultant or Platform Architect
- Bring strong software engineering foundations and still enjoy building, debugging and reviewing production code
- Have worked within a leading consulting firm, high-growth startup, developer platform or technically complex SaaS business
- Can build trust with senior engineers while clearly explaining commercial outcomes and technical trade-offs to executives
- Have designed and delivered complex technical solutions involving multiple stakeholders, systems and dependencies
- Are comfortable taking a project from an unclear customer problem through architecture,



implementation, rollout and production support
- Have built AI-native products or workflows that have moved beyond the prototype stage and into real-world use
- Understand the practical strengths and limitations of modern foundation models
- Have hands-on experience with LLMs, agent frameworks, RAG, tool use, prompt engineering, evaluation, tracing and observability
- Are strong in TypeScript and JavaScript, with experience in Python and the ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Understand APIs, distributed systems, cloud architecture, networking, caching, security and application performance
- Have experience working with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud and understand how modern SaaS platforms fit into enterprise environments
- Can balance speed with reliability, making sensible decisions around security, scalability, performance and cost
- Thrive in ambiguity, take ownership and enjoy being accountable for customer outcomes

What will make you stand out

- Experience building production AI applications or agentic workflows
- Experience with modern web frameworks such as Next.js, React or similar technologies
- Exposure to AI SDKs, agent frameworks, model gateways, vector databases and evaluation platforms
- Experience deploying and operating high-traffic web applications or developer platforms
- A strong understanding of developer experience and how engineering teams evaluate and adopt new tools
- Experience supporting major cloud migrations, platform transformations or composable architectures
- Familiarity with enterprise security and privacy standards such as SOC 2, PCI DSS or HIPAA
- A record of creating reusable technical assets, architecture patterns or developer education content
