About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Steel Reinforcing Scheduler to join our team at our Kilburn facility in South Australia. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in optimising our production operations and ensuring efficient delivery of steel reinforcing products to our customers.
As Senior Steel Reinforcing
Scheduler, you will be responsible for developing and managing comprehensive production schedules that balance customer demands, resource availability and operational efficiency. Your strategic planning and scheduling expertise will directly impact our ability to meet commitments, minimise waste and maximise profitability across the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed production schedules that optimise the utilisation of machinery, labour and materials
- Analyse customer orders, delivery requirements and production capacity to create realistic and achievable schedules
- Monitor production progress against established schedules and identify potential delays or bottlenecks
- Implement corrective actions to address scheduling conflicts and maintain on-time delivery performance
- Coordinate with production, sales and logistics teams to ensure seamless communication and alignment on priorities
- Manage inventory levels and material flow to support production requirements whilst minimising holding costs
- Prepare reports and analytics on scheduling performance, production metrics and key performance indicators
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the scheduling function
- Train and mentor junior scheduling staff, providing guidance and support to develop their capabilities
- Liaise with customers regarding delivery schedules and manage expectations through proactive communication
What we're looking for
- Minimum 5 years of experience in production scheduling, ideally within the steel reinforcing, manufacturing or related industrial sector
- Proven expertise in using production planning and scheduling software systems, such as ERP platforms or specialist scheduling tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively
- Excellent knowledge of production planning principles, including capacity planning, demand forecasting and inventory management
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex scheduling information clearly
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and report preparation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business software applications
- A proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements
- Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop team members
- Flexibility and resilience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Valid driver's licence (preferred)
