About The Role

As a Senior Front End Developer, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of the Schoolbox platform. Working within our Product team, you'll design and build modern, accessible and high-performing user experiences that support thousands of educators, students and families every day.

This is more than a feature development role. You'll help enhance existing functionality and continuously improve our platform. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full technology stack, balancing feature delivery with ongoing platform modernisation, performance, security and maintainability within a mature production environment. As well as drive the evolution of our frontend architecture, contribute to our design system,



and lead the transition from legacy technologies towards contemporary Vue-based, component-driven development.

You'll also provide technical leadership through mentoring, code reviews and helping drive frontend best practices across the team.

In this role you will:

- Develop high-quality, maintainable and accessible frontend applications using modern JavaScript, TypeScript and Vue.
- Design reusable components and contribute to our growing design system.
- Lead frontend technical design and contribute to architecture decisions for new product features.
- Modernise legacy frontend code while maintaining platform stability.
- Champion accessibility, responsive design, performance optimisation and frontend best practices.
- Collaborate with Product, Design and Engineering teams to deliver intuitive user experiences.
- Write and maintain automated tests to improve product quality and reduce regressions.
- Troubleshoot complex frontend issues and support production investigations when required.
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers through coaching, pairing and code reviews.
- Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity, code quality and developer workflows.

About You





- 5+ years' experience developing modern web applications.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, relational databases and modern web application architecture.
- Strong experience with object-oriented PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS/SASS and responsive web development.
- Experience with Vue.js (or a similar modern frontend framework).
- Strong understanding of component-based architecture, accessibility (WCAG) and frontend performance.
- Experience working with mature products and modernising legacy code.
- Experience with Git, code reviews, automated testing and Agile delivery.
- Strong communication skills and a passion for mentoring others.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools in a professional software development environment.
