About the role

Are you passionate and committed to playing a key role in driving Aboriginal justice across the Department of Justice? The Principal Policy Officer – Kimberley Juvenile Justice Strategy (KJJS), will utilise a co‑design approach and develop local strategic partnerships with other state government agencies, the local government, and Aboriginal community‑controlled organisations, including other community groups to lead contribution to the KJJS. You will be part of a dedicated Perth, Broome and Kununurra based team, that define, and guide analysis and reporting in relation to key elements of the KJJS.

About You

You will demonstrate proven experience working with Aboriginal people and communities in Western Australia and have an ability to demonstrate outcomes. You will be available to undertake intrastate and other travel as required and directed. You will also demonstrate the achievement of a range of results, build and forge strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, achieve results and exemplify personal integrity and self‑awareness.



You will be a strong and effective communicator who is persuasive and effective, achieving outcomes that benefit all.

Responsibilities

The principal policy officer is also required to research, evaluate, and analyse complex policy issues, implement contract management fundamentals, promote the integration of policy into business planning processes and contribute to strategic reform initiatives across the Department to ensure there is an alignment with key strategic directions and policy priorities.
