Permanent Full‑Time Position (80 hrs per fortnight) with monthly ADO. Managers and Administrative Workers Grade 3 (HS3) – equivalent to Pharmacy Technician Grade 4. 5 weeks annual leave, salary packaging, and other staff benefits. Located at The Alfred.
The Department
Alfred Health Pharmacy is a well‑recognised provider of high‑quality, cutting-edge, patient‑focused services, education, training programmes and significant research output. The service operates over four sites within Alfred Health and continually promotes postgraduate learning and research interests, supported by expert mentors who foster staff development.
The department also leads the Digital Health strategy, managing an electronic medication management system within an integrated electronic medical record (Cerner). The system links directly to Pharmacy Dispensing (iPharmacy) and Automated Medication Storage systems (Omnicell). A strong clinical presence and a Centre for Medicine Use and Safety programme support safe, financially responsible medication management across Alfred Health.

The Team
The Pharmaceutical Management team is responsible for procurement, distribution and governance of medicine supply across Alfred Health. The team takes a proactive, coordinated approach, working closely with external suppliers (Symbion, Baxter) to deliver medications to Pharmacy and pharmacy‑related imprest areas. Collaboration with Digital Health, Medication Safety and Formulary programmes ensures the most up‑to‑date treatments are available cost‑effectively, supporting department and organisational strategic goals.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced pharmacy technician or store person to transition into a supervisory/leadership role as a Senior Distribution Officer.
Reporting to the Pharmacy Distribution Manager, you will co‑ordinate the day‑to‑day operations of the pharmacy distributions team, oversee inbound and outbound services, imprest supply and dispensary stock management, and collaborate with the Procurement team to ensure timely, cost‑effective access to medications across all Alfred Health campuses.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Experience in a hospital pharmacy or supply department with stock management, purchasing and inventory control (or equivalent).
- Supervisory or training experience essential; leadership or team‑management experience highly desirable.
- Certificate III or IV in Health (Hospital Pharmacy Technician), Hospital Services, Supply Chain Logistics or equivalent (including tertiary qualification). Highly desirable.
