WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE

Working as part of the Work Health and Safety team, you will assist the University to comply with the Building Fire Safety Regulation and emergency management requirements. The role involves coordinating building evacuation drills, developing and maintaining Emergency Evacuation Plans, supporting and training Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) members, and providing fire safety and emergency preparedness advice to staff and students.

You will maintain emergency management records and databases, coordinate the inspection and maintenance of first aid kits and emergency equipment, assist in the development of personal emergency evacuation plans, liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support compliance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the University's emergency management and fire safety systems.

WHAT YOU CAN BRING TO THE ROLE

- Qualifications as a Fire Safety Advisor and subsequent relevant experience acting in a Fire Safety Advisor role or an equivalent combination of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in the interpretation and application of Building Fire Safety Regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in organising and implementing building evacuation drills in large complex or remote/isolated environments.
- Demonstrated experience in the administration of a First Aid Management Plan including training, maintaining first aid kits and other emergency response equipment including emergency showers, eyewash stations and defibrillator units.
- Informed analytical and problem‑solving skills to judge shifting priorities and work both independently and as a member of a team.




- Demonstrated well‑developed written and oral communication skills in dealing with people from a variety of backgrounds both internal and external to the organisation and a proven ability to maintain positive working relationships.
