Assistant Chief Engineer
As Assistant Chief Engineer , you will play a key leadership role in supporting the hotel’s maintenance operations, ensuring our iconic luxury property continues to deliver exceptional standards across all guest‑facing and back‑of‑house areas. Working closely with the Chief Engineer, you will act as the department’s second‑in‑command, leading a skilled engineering team while overseeing daily maintenance, safety, compliance, and asset management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Chief Engineer in leading the Engineering department and daily operations across the hotel.
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs and the performance of building services, plant and equipment.
- Lead, coach, and develop the engineering team while promoting a robust safety culture.
- Manage maintenance priorities, contractor works and compliance requirements to the highest standard.
- Support capital projects, sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
- Work closely with operational departments to ensure a seamless luxury guest experience.
- Act as department leader in the absence of the Chief Engineer and provide hands‑on technical support when required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hotel engineering, facilities management or maintenance leadership role, ideally within a luxury hotel,
premium hospitality environment or large‑scale facility.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing engineering teams in a fast‑paced operational environment.
- Solid technical knowledge across building services, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and general maintenance systems.
- Sound understanding of preventative maintenance programs, contractor management, WHS and statutory compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build solid relationships across departments.
- A proactive, solutions‑focused approach with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays as required.
