About the Role:

An opportunity has become available within The Royal Children’s Hospital for a casual Linen Porter within the Support Services Department. Shifts: Day & Afternoon Shift across Weekdays and Weekends.

As a Linen Porter, you will play a crucial role in providing the safe, timely and hygienic supply of linen across the RCH in both clinical and non‑clinical areas of the hospital. Reporting to the Support Services Department, you will ensure that your practices adhere to Infection Control guidelines and the AS/NZS Laundry Practice Standards for Victorian Health Facilities.

Your well‑developed written and verbal communication skills combined with your interpersonal skills will provide you with the ability to work within a team environment in varying locations throughout the hospital. Your customer focus and attention to detail will enable you to provide a high‑level service to patients, families and colleagues.

Your skills and experience:

- Knowledge of infection controls principles and procedures
- Well‑developed communication skills (verbal and written)
- Previous experience in a hospital setting desirable

- Ability to resolve conflict in a professional manner
- Capability to build and maintain good working relationships with a diverse team
- Physically fit for manual work

Other requirements:

- Current National Criminal Record Check or willingness to obtain
- Valid Working with Children Check
- Compliance with RCH’s “Staff Immunisation – Prevention of Vaccine‑Preventable Diseases” procedure

Health and safety requirements:

- Vaccinated against Influenza annually for Category A and B roles, in compliance with public health orders, unless a medical exception is accepted
- Requirement to provide Australian Government Immunisation History Statement; RCH will collect, record and hold vaccination information
- Compliance with any direction given by the Royal Children’s Hospital to be vaccinated against or prove immunity to any other disease, unless a relevant exemption is provided
