We are seeking a passionate, organised, and reliable Centre Cook to join our early learning community. As our Centre Cook, you will play an important role in supporting children's health, wellbeing, and development by preparing fresh, nutritious, and delicious meals each day in a safe and welcoming kitchen environment.
You will work closely with the Centre Director and educators to ensure all meals meet children's dietary requirements, food safety standards, and nutritional guidelines while creating positive mealtime experiences for every child.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare healthy, balanced meals and snacks in line with the centre's approved menu and nutrition guidelines.
- Cater for individual dietary, cultural, allergy, and medical requirements.
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in accordance with food handling regulations.
- Order food supplies and kitchen consumables while managing stock levels and minimising waste.
- Monitor food storage, rotation, and temperature records.
- Ensure the kitchen remains clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with educators to support healthy eating practices and special centre events.
- Maintain accurate kitchen records, including cleaning schedules, food temperatures, and allergy management documentation.
- Follow all centre policies, procedures,
and relevant food safety legislation.
Skills and Experience
- Experience preparing meals in a childcare, school, aged care, hospitality, or commercial kitchen setting.
- Knowledge of nutrition for young children.
- Understanding of food allergies and special dietary requirements.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Friendly, positive, and team-oriented attitude.
- Excellent attention to cleanliness and food safety.
Essential Requirements
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain, as required).
- Current Food Handler Certificate.
- Valid Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).
- Current First Aid Certificate (desirable).
- Knowledge of relevant food safety and health regulations.
