The Health Information Services (HIS) at Austin Health consists of Medical Record Services, Clinical Coding Services, Submission Services and Corporate Records Services. HIS has approximately 70 FTE, located across the three Austin Health sites.
About the role
The Clinical Coding Service at Austin Health is looking for two newly graduated Health Information Managers / Clinical Coders to join our expanding Clinical Coding Service.
Our office space on Mount Street Heidelberg provides convenient access to Heidelberg Station, Burgundy Street shopping precinct and onsite parking. We offer versatile work arrangements including ADOs and hybrid working arrangements.
The Health Information Manager / Clinical Coder role is pivotal within the Clinical Coding Team and Health Information Services. Successful applicants will participate in a structured graduate training program, receiving extensive one-on-one mentoring and education from experienced Grade 3 Senior Health Information Managers within our dedicated Education portfolio. Following successful completion of the graduate year, the successful applicants will progress to a Grade 2 Health Information Manager / Clinical Coding position. At Austin Health the coding and auditing process is supported by software including Solventum Code Finder,
Code Focus (Data Agility) and PICQ Audit (Beamtree).
About you
To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:
- Successful completion of a recognised Health Information Management or Clinical Coding qualification within the last 12 months
- Sound knowledge of clinical coding, ICD-10-AM, ACHI and National and State Standards
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- The ability to manage multiple tasks, determine priorities and meet deadlines
- Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
