Community Engagement and Education Officer
Youth Focus is looking for an experienced Community Engagement and Education Officer to join our dynamic Mandurah team!
- Permanent Part time | 0.6 FTE
- This position commences ASAP!
About the Role
The Community Engagement and Education Officer is responsible for increasing awareness of Youth Focus services, mental health literacy, and help-seeking behaviours within the community. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead community awareness initiatives to promote Youth Focus services, including representing the organisation at external events and expos, and other promotional events
- Deliver mental health education programs in schools and other locations across the Peel and Southern regions
- Facilitate a range of mental health programs to young people, parents and their supports to enhance response to youth mental health
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders including schools and other service providers
- Work with the Service Manager and Clinical Lead to develop strategies to enhance participation of young people, and family/friends
- Facilitate the Youth and Carer's Reference Groups, including recruitment, retention, monthly meetings, and all required admin and communication
About You
To be considered for this position, applicants will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in mental health, youth work, community development, social sciences, health promotion or a related discipline, and/or relevant experience in mental health or youth services.
- Experience delivering training, education programs, or community development initiatives will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience and passion for working with young people
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Solid organisational, administrative, and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously.
- A current 'C' Class Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to obtain current Working with Children Check and a satisfactory National Police Clearance.
- Flexibility to work outside standard business hours as required.
