Science, Physics and Numeracy Teacher (Senior School)

About the Role

Melbourne Montessori College is seeking an experienced and passionate General Science and Physics/Numeracy Teacher to join our Senior School team.

Reporting to the Principal and Head of Campus, the successful applicant will deliver engaging and challenging Science, Physics and Numeracy programs within our Montessori learning environment and across our senior secondary programs.

The successful candidate will be an educator who values inquiry, critical thinking and student-centred learning, and who can support students to achieve academic success while developing independence, confidence and responsibility for their learning.

Experience teaching within senior secondary programs, including VCE and/or IB, will be highly regarded. A willingness to develop an understanding of Montessori philosophy and practice is essential.

Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Science, Physics and Numeracy programs aligned with VCE, VM and IB curriculum requirements and the educational philosophy of the College.

Develop learning experiences that promote inquiry, problem-solving, critical thinking and independent learning.





Support students to develop the skills required for success across senior secondary pathways, including research, analysis, reflection and application of knowledge.

Differentiate learning to support the diverse needs, abilities and aspirations of students.

Use a range of teaching strategies, resources and technologies to enhance student engagement and achievement.

Assess student learning, provide meaningful feedback and contribute to reporting processes.

Maintain accurate records of student progress and learning outcomes.

Build positive and respectful relationships with students, supporting their academic progress and personal development.

Foster a classroom environment that reflects the College’s Montessori philosophy and values.

Encourage students to develop independence, resilience, self-management and responsibility for their learning.

Support students as they navigate the expectations of senior secondary study and their individual learning pathways.

Work collaboratively with colleagues and families to support student wellbeing and learning.

Uphold the College’s Child Safety and Mandatory Reporting obligations.

Collaboration & Professional Practice

Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop curriculum, share practice and support continuous improvement across the Senior School.

Contribute to the ongoing development of Science and Math programs.

Participate in professional learning related to curriculum development, Montessori practice and contemporary educational approaches.

Maintain current knowledge of developments in Science, Physics and Numeracy and secondary education.

Engage in reflective practice and ongoing professional growth.

Contribution to College Life

Participate in the broader life of the College through camps, excursions,



community events and other school activities.

Contribute positively to the collaborative culture of Melbourne Montessori College.

Support opportunities that enrich student learning beyond the classroom.

Contribute to the development of independent, engaged and responsible young adults.

About You

You are a reflective, enthusiastic educator who believes in empowering young people to communicate effectively, think critically and develop practical life skills. You bring:

Current Victorian Teacher Registration (VIT).

Qualifications and experience in teaching Science, Physics and Numeracy at the senior school level.

Strong understanding of inquiry-based, student-centred learning approaches.

Excellent organisational, communication and relationship‑building skills.

A willingness to engage with Montessori philosophy and contribute positively to a collaborative school culture.

Montessori training is highly regarded; however, a willingness to undertake Montessori professional learning is essential.
