About Us

Sydney Music Lessons connects students across Sydney with music teachers by instrument, price and location. We're growing our social presence and looking for someone who wants to actually learn how to build an audience through short-form video, not just tick a box for a resume.

The Role

This role is mainly about creating reels that grow our Instagram, but there's room to take on more as you show what you can do. You'll be figuring out what actually works on Instagram right now, not just filming and hoping for the best.

What You'll Be Doing

- Planning, filming and editing Instagram reels for Sydney Music Lessons
- Researching what's actually working in the music/education space on Instagram and adapting it to our audience
- Testing formats, hooks and styles to see what lands, then doing more of what works
- Working with an instrument on camera (see below), whether that's a quick lesson tip, a song snippet, or a trend format

Who We're Looking For
- Fluent English speaker
- Prior social media experience is a plus, but not required, we're just as interested in someone with a sharp eye for reels and the drive to learn what makes them succeed
- Basic video editing skills, experience with CapCut preferred
- A genuine read on Instagram audience preferences,



you should be able to look at a reel and explain why it worked or didn't
- Access to at least one musical instrument, you'll need this to actually make content
- Comfortable understanding the difference between content that looks like an ad and content that feels native to the platform

One important thing: we need you to bring one of two strengths, ideally both, but either is genuinely fine on its own.

1. You're confident and charismatic on camera, comfortable speaking to an audience, no issue being the face of a reel.
2. You're a solid editor who can put together a well-cut, polished reel that doesn't look like raw UGC, even if you're not the one on camera.

If you've got both, even better, but we're not going to pass on a great editor just because they'd rather stay behind the camera, or a great on-camera talent who needs help polishing the edit.

What You'll Get

This is unpaid, and we want to be upfront about that rather than bury it. What we're offering instead is real mentorship, you'll learn directly what actually works in short-form content and social growth, not generic theory. For the right person, there's a genuine pathway into paid work, either with us directly or through a partner digital marketing agency, once you've shown what you can do.
