Profectus is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Solution Architects to support the design, integration, and delivery of technical capability within Australian Government environments. Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will shape, document, and assure solutions across hardware, software, and system components, then support their transition into secure operating environments. This prospect will cover the design work, the architecture and technical documentation set that supports it.

Key Responsibilities

- Support executive decision making with subject matter expertise, including the production of option sets alongside engineering teams
- Assess current-state capability and future-state objectives using authoritative information sources and references
- Develop architecture and design artefacts to agreed standards and templates, including System Architecture Descriptions, System Overview Documents, and High Level and Detailed Designs
- Produce, edit, and quality-assure technical and operational documentation, including standard operating procedures, work instructions, technical manuals, plans, reports, and governance artefacts
- Engage with engineering, project, and governance teams to elicit, validate, structure, and present technical content for varied audiences
- Maintain document management practices including version control, traceability, configuration records, and baselining
- Identify technical sources of risk and apply approved processes for formal reporting, assessment, and treatment within delegated authority
- Facilitate architecture, hardware, and software acceptance into service, including required approvals, procurement, connections, and installations




- Contribute to the implementation and configuration of ICT hardware and software, and provide troubleshooting support to operational teams where required
- Apply ITIL service management practices, including participation in Change Advisory Boards, implementation of approved changes, and use of service management toolsets for tasking and scheduling
- Support continuous improvement of documentation, templates, and authoring practices across the environment
- Handle classified information in accordance with Commonwealth policy, including the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM), and protect Commonwealth Intellectual Property

Required Experience
- Tertiary and/or vocational qualifications in an ICT or Engineering discipline
- Substantial ICT industry experience, with demonstrated experience in system architecture, development, and integration within secure government environments
- Demonstrated experience producing publication-quality architecture and technical documentation in complex ICT or engineering settings
- Strong written English, with the ability to translate complex technical content into clear, structured, audience-appropriate documentation
- Experience working to government standards, templates, and document control practices




- Proven ability to work across complex technical activities spanning software, hardware, and emerging technologies
- Ability to engage technical subject matter experts to elicit, validate, and accurately represent technical content
- Advanced Microsoft Word skills, including styling, structured document templates, and document management systems
- Strong version, traceability, and configuration control discipline
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical peers and ICT leadership
- Ability to manage concurrent tasks, prioritise, and meet firm deadlines

Desirable Experience
- ITIL certification, or practical experience operating within ITIL-aligned service management
- Experience producing artefacts aligned to the ISM, PSPF, ITIL, or comparable frameworks
- Experience with architecture frameworks and modelling notations
- Experience supporting governance, assurance, or compliance functions
- Experience with distributed, remote, or field-based ICT systems and networks
- Structured authoring tools, diagramming tools such as Visio, and document collaboration platforms
- Relevant industry certifications in architecture, service management, or technical communication

Security Clearance Requirements
- Must be an Australian Citizen
- Must hold a current AGSVA NV2 Security Clearance

Working Arrangements
- Onsite in Canberra (ACT)
