About the Role

You will join the St Vincent's Public Hospital Chemotherapy Day Unit team as a Grade 3 Registered Nurse. Under the guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager, you will be responsible for providing a high level of clinical nursing care to patients undergoing treatment for cancer.

- Demonstrate a Person Centred Care Approach in all aspects of daily nursing practice
- Provide the highest standard of direct patient care; demonstrate safe administration of anti-cancer medication and expert cannulation skills.
- Provide advice to patients and carers on symptom management through the disease process
- Identify psycho-social needs of patients and their families and initiates appropriate referrals
- Assess the learning needs of home based care givers and as patients move through the illness continuum provide appropriate education, guidance and referrals as necessary

Classifications for this position will range from YU11 ($111,930.00 per annum pro rata)

Your Contribution

- Degree in general nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Current AHPRA Registration
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Cancer Nursing
- Anit-Cancer Drug Administration Course (ADAC) competent
- Willing to obtain National Criminal History Check

About the Chemotherapy Day Unit

The Chemotherapy Day Unit is an 18-chair unit that specialises in the delivery of systemic anti-cancer therapies, including standard care and on clinical trials. The unit provides treatment for patients with haematological malignancies and solid tumours, working closely with the multidisciplinary team. The service also includes apheresis, a Symptom Urgent Review Clinic (SURC) and Cancer Care at Home. The Cancer Centre upholds strong values of person-centred care aligned with the Sisters of Charity.
