Overview

Community Support Practitioner position at MacKillop Family Services in Pakenham, VIC, AU. This is a full-time on-site role (0.8 EFT fixed term, parental leave cover until 8 January 2027) based in Pakenham with work across partner sites in the Cardinia Local Government Area. The Early Help Family Services (EHFS) program provides early intervention support to students and families who access universal services to prevent the need for family services or statutory intervention.

Responsibilities

- Deliver the EHFS model on-site with local partners, communities, and stakeholders.
- Build relationships, promote collaboration, and ensure a seamless experience for families and children across partner sites.
- Provide service delivery including brief intervention work, group work, and capacity building within the community.
- Provide psychoeducation, referrals, and support to access universal or specialist services.
- Assist with assessment, parenting groups, training, individual support, and brokerage as required.
- Collaborate as part of the EHFS team and liaise with the Coordinator Early Help & IFS and other stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

- Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Child Development, Psychology, or related field). Candidates studying toward a Bachelor degree or with a relevant Diploma and substantial experience are encouraged to apply.
- Flexibility to work outside standard business hours (7:00 am to 7:00 pm) as required by clients and program needs.
- Significant experience in a relevant field with understanding of key child development issues relating to parents and families.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of trauma,



attachment, and developmental stages.
- Demonstrated professional case management skills and ability to develop team-oriented relationships across professional and organizational boundaries, including knowledge of Community Service organisations and local/state government (DFFH).

Requirements

- Valid and current Driver’s Licence.
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop).
- Valid Employee Working with Children Check.
- Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk-assessed/client-facing roles).

Remuneration and Benefits

- Hourly rate of $51 to $53.31 as per SCHADS Award Level 5, dependent on qualification and experience.
