About the role

We're seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Transport Engineering team in Melbourne. This is a senior, hands‑on role where you'll take technical ownership of complex certification and design work, act as a key point of contact for clients, and help develop our junior and graduate engineers. It's an excellent opportunity to step into a role with real influence in a growing firm with a clear pathway toward leadership responsibilities.

What you'll do

- Technical leadership : Lead the design, development and analysis of mechanical components and systems using CAD and FEA, setting the technical direction on your projects.
- Certification ownership : Prepare, review and sign off technical documentation and analysis across NHVR, PBS and AVE certifications.
- Risk assessment : Lead complex on‑site risk assessments for heavy machinery and transport equipment.
- Expert input : Provide senior technical analysis, including support for expert witness engagements.
- Mentoring :



Develop and review the work of junior and graduate engineers, building team capability.
- Client engagement : Act as a trusted technical contact for clients across government, dealerships and fleets.
- Quality : Uphold and improve our quality assurance processes and engineering standards.

What you'll bring

- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (postgraduate qualifications an advantage).
- Substantial post‑graduate experience (typically 6+ years) in mechanical, automotive, heavy vehicle or transport engineering.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD, Inventor) and FEA.
- Strong working knowledge of Australian transport regulations (NHVR, PBS, AVE, ADRs).
- Signatory or certifier credentials — e.g. AVE, NHVR/PBS assessor or the experience and eligibility to work toward them.
- Chartered status (CPEng) and/or NER / engineer registration is highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, review and lead other engineers.
- Excellent communication and client‑facing skills.
- Current driver's licence and full right to work in Australia.
