We are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team. The opportunity:
We have an exciting prospect for a permanent full time Estimator. In this role you will report to our Estimating Manager and be responsible for the preparation of tender submissions and providing accurate cost estimates for projects to ensure financial feasibility. This role is ideally suited to a candidate seeking to build a long-term career in pre-contracts and commercial management. Structured mentoring and development will be provided by experienced estimating professionals.
About the role:
- Prepare, review and finalise in consultation with the Estimating Manager, Contract Managers or Division Mangers all negotiated and open tender pricing.
- Prepare, review and finalise all supporting tender submission documentation as required by the invitation to tender or tender document.
- Undertake quantity take-offs from engineering drawings.
- Source and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Assist in preparing BOQs and cost plans.
- Participate in tender review meetings and handovers.
- Identify tender risks, opportunities and value engineering initiatives.
- Drive continual improvement within HSEQ during tender processes.
- Record and maintain tender data and statistics on all open tender submissions.
- Foster positive relationships with clients and contractors.
Typical projects include:
- Residential and industrial subdivisions
- Bulk earthworks
- Road and pavement construction
- Sewer, drainage and water infrastructure
- Underground services
- Mining services packages
- Civil works packages valued from $1m to $20m+
Our ideal candidate will have:
- 1-3 years’ experience in civil construction, project engineering, quantity surveying or estimating
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or similar desirable.
- Understanding of subdivision and civil construction methodologies
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and scopes of work
- Highly developed analytical and numeracy skills.
- High standard of communication & interpersonal skills, at all levels.
- Sound planning and organisational skills.
- Good computer skills using the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Professional and ethical approach in maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
- Attention to detail, reliability and flexibility.
- Exposure to tendering, procurement or project delivery highly regarded
