We are partnering with a high‑impact organisation operating a facility of national significance to appoint an experienced Internal Legal Counsel . This newly created part‑time role (3 days per week) is ideal for a senior lawyer seeking meaningful work, autonomy, and the opportunity to shape legal and commercial frameworks within a complex project environment.
This is a rare chance to step into a strategic in‑house position supporting executive leadership across major capital works, infrastructure delivery, procurement, compliance and commercial operations.
The Opportunity
As Internal Legal Counsel, you will provide strategic legal and commercial advice across the business, guiding leadership through contract negotiation, compliance obligations, risk management and operational decision‑making. You’ll work at the intersection of law, commercial strategy and project delivery , ensuring the organisation is protected while enabling growth and operational excellence.
This role offers:

Key Responsibilities
You will lead internal legal support across:
Commercial contract negotiation & drafting – subcontractor agreements, supply contracts, consultancy arrangements, client contracts
Risk identification & mitigation – commercial, contractual and operational
Compliance & governance – WHS, environmental legislation, construction standards, government contracting
Dispute management – claims, complaints, regulatory inquiries, early resolution strategies
Executive & Board support – legal briefings, commercial impact analysis,
strategic advice
Contract management oversight – retention tracking, milestone clauses, indemnities, liability caps
Intellectual property & confidentiality – ownership, contractor obligations, design documentation
Coordination with external counsel – briefing, cost management, oversight
Corporate records & documentation systems – contract registers, legal holds, audit trails

About You
You are a seasoned legal skilled with:
LLB and admission to practice in Australia
7–10+ years’ experience , including in‑house or internal legal roles
Background in commercial, construction, infrastructure or defence law
Strong commercial judgement and ability to balance legal risk with business enablement
Expertise in contract drafting, negotiation and risk management
Confidence advising senior executives and Boards
Eligibility for AGSVA security clearance (Australian citizenship required)
“Minimum 7–10 years of legal experience… significant experience in large law practice with exposure to commercial, construction or infrastructure law.”
Adelaide‑based (Osborne), with hybrid flexibility
Occasional travel within SA and interstate
