A rare leadership opportunity has become available to join SWOP as Brisbane Store Director, overseeing both our flagship location in the James St precinct, and our non‑profit social enterprise, PRISE Op Shop, located in West End.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced retail leader to make an impact at the forefront of the fashion circular economy, and play a key role in SWOP’s exponential growth while also advocating our core values of sustainability, responsibility and transparency.

Key to success in this role will be a love of fashion and inherent appreciation of the brands, trends, and key pieces beloved by our community, and an approachable and explicit communication style to introduce SWOP and our ethos to an ever‑growing audience.

About the Role

Working closely with SWOP senior leadership, you’ll oversee a fantastic team of 15+ dedicated employees (both Sales Associates and Buyers) and be given the autonomy to lead the store to new heights. Along with two Assistant Managers, you’ll own store operations from end‑to‑end and work both creatively and strategically to continuously improve the experience for SWOP’s customers and staff.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

- Sales growth and profitability: with a keen eye for numbers and deep understanding of retail KPIs, you’ll know what levers to pull to meet (and exceed!) growth targets.
- Staff training and development: identify opportunities to mentor staff and uplevel the team’s skillset to achieve their maximum potential.
- Customer service excellence: leading by example, you’ll prioritise the customer experience at every interaction and introduce the customer voice into all decision‑making.
- Buying and inventory management:



you’ll work closely with our Senior Buying team to ensure the perfect mix of inventory is in‑stock at all times.
- Marketing and business development: you’ll partner with SWOP’s marketing team to produce store‑related social media content and promotions, and play a key role in building our online presence to deliver a truly omnichannel offering for customers.
- Customer relationship management: utilising SWOP’s extensive digital tools, you’ll deepen relationships with SWOP’s most loyal buyers and sellers.
- Values‑driven leadership: you’ll execute your leadership agenda through the lens of SWOP’s core values, ensuring all decisions are aligned with our culture of quality, inclusivity, integrity and connectivity.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have an established track record of success in fashion/apparel/luxury retail management, with experience leading large teams across multiple departments. You’ll possess both sharp business acumen and a passion for sustainability, driven to make a difference in the work that you do.Other attributes include:

- 5+ years’ experience in senior retail leadership roles, overseeing multiple departments
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and KPIs
- Experience in team leadership and staff development
- Enjoys working in fast‑paced environments
