Metal Fabricator – Full Time

Established in 1955, Park Avenue Wrought Iron (PAWI) has built a reputation as one of Melbourne's leading manufacturers of premium architectural metalwork. We specialise in the design, fabrication and installation of custom gates, balustrades, fencing, feature steelwork and automation systems for high‑end residential projects throughout Melbourne.

We're looking for a motivated Metal Fabricator to join our growing team. Whether you already have several years of experience or are looking to further develop your fabrication skills, we'd like to hear from people who take pride in producing quality work and are eager to learn.

About the Role

Working from our well-equipped workshop in Cheltenham, you'll fabricate a wide variety of custom architectural steel and aluminium products using detailed shop drawings and quality fabrication equipment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands‑on fabrication, appreciates challenging and varied work, and wants to be part of a small team that values quality over quantity.

Key Responsibilities

- Fabricate custom steel, aluminium and wrought iron products from detailed workshop drawings.
- MIG weld mild steel and aluminium to a high standard.
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings and specifications.
- Operate workshop machinery including cold saws, drills, grinders and general fabrication tools.
- Assemble, fit and finish fabricated components ready for galvanizing, powder coating or installation.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets our quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop.




- Work collaboratively with the team to deliver projects on schedule.

Skills & Experience

We're looking for someone with:

- Experience in metal fabrication or a related trade (all experience levels considered).
- MIG welding experience.
- The ability to read and interpret workshop drawings, or a willingness to develop these skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing quality workmanship.
- Good problem‑solving skills and a willingness to learn.
- A positive attitude, solid work ethic and reliability.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a small team.
- A current driver's licence.
- A White Card and Forklift Licence are advantageous but not essential.

Experience fabricating gates, fencing, balustrades or architectural metalwork will be highly regarded, but is not essential for the right applicant.
