Due to continued growth, we’re looking for a capable and practical Structural Engineer with approximately three to five years’ experience to join KUSCH. You’ll primarily assist with the structural design of prefabricated steel frames and supports for building services on Tier 1 & 2 construction in QLD and NSW, including hospitals, data centres & transport infrastructure.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll have the chance to take ownership of your work, contribute practical ideas and work closely with an experienced engineering team. You won’t just be producing calculations. You’ll be:
Designing practical and buildable steel solutions
Working on prefabricated steel frames and building services supports
Managing your work through the design and delivery process
Working directly with clients, suppliers and other project stakeholders
Contributing to how the team works and improves

We’re looking for a full time Structural Engineer to join our Brisbane-based team in our CBD office. Reporting to the Senior Structural Engineer, you’ll assist with the structural design and delivery of prefabricated steel framing systems and supports for building services. This is a practical engineering role within a small, high-performing team where your work is visible and your input matters.
You’ll be involved in developing safe, efficient and buildable solutions, with the opportunity to increase your level of project ownership as you grow within KUSCH.
You’ll
Design prefabricated steel frames and structural supports for building services
Complete steel design in accordance with AS 4100 and AS/NZS 4600
Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings and technical documentation
Undertake structural analysis and modelling
Review steel connections, fabrication drawings and shop drawings
Work with drafting and engineering team members to develop practical, coordinated designs
Assist with proposals and the definition of project scope and fees
Communicate with clients, suppliers, fabricators and other project stakeholders
Respond to design queries and help resolve technical or site-based issues
Attend site when required, without excessive travel
Support project delivery across scope, timelines and budgets
Contribute to improving how we design and deliver work
Support junior team members as needed

Approximately three to five years’ structural engineering experience
Demonstrated experience designing steel structures
Sound knowledge of AS 4100 and/or AS/NZS 4600
Experience preparing structural calculations and technical documentation
Experience using structural analysis and modelling software An understanding of steel connections, fabrication requirements and construction methods A practical approach to design, with the ability to balance performance, cost and buildability
Confidence reviewing drawings and resolving technical issues
Clear written and verbal communication skills The ability to manage your time and priorities across multiple projects A dependable approach and willingness to take ownership of your work
Australian working rights RPEQ registration will be viewed favourably but isn’t essential. For the right candidate, KUSCH can provide support towards obtaining RPEQ registration once they’re established in the role.
Bonus Points
For
Previous experience designing non-structural building elements or supports for building services
Experience designing prefabricated or light-gauge steel framing systems
Experience with SpaceGass, IDEA StatiCa, finite element analysis software or similar tools
Experience with Autodesk Revit or other 3D design tools
Confidence using Bluebeam Revu to mark up drawings and collaborate efficiently
