We have an opportunity for a skilled and innovative Locomotive Driver to join our multi-skilled and proactive Cane Railway Team. If you have a background in driving and operating Locomotive along cane railways, then your next Opportunity at ISIS may be what you are looking for.

A day in the life of a Locomotive Driver at ISIS

- The individual will carry out locomotive driving and brake van operations
- Follow all communication protocols with the Traffic Office and other Locomotives and Cane railway vehicles (via two-way radio)
- Communicate effectively and professionally with all contractors when arriving and leaving sidings along the cane rail network
- Carry out safe shunting procedures whilst operating a locomotive on the cane rail line
- Carry out pre-start checks & servicing of locomotives and brake vans
- Safely operate locomotives at all public crossings and shared locations
- Report all defects found in rolling stock and track
- Assist with cane rail personnel at the scene of a derailment or incidents involving waiting time
- Supervise Locomotive assistant during the shift
- Perform pre & post operation inspections of locomotive and van
- Follow all Rail Safety Procedures and Company policies




- Create and participate in the creation of JSA’s and take 5’s for daily tasks
- Regular checks to ensure efficient and timely delivery of cane to Isis central sugar mill

What you bring to ISIS

- QLD Driver’s License (Manual will be looked at favorably)
- Reliable transport to attend work
- Experience in operating locomotives preferably in the sugar industry
- Previous experience with Baldwin and DH locomotives
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Australian Working Rights
