Specialists on Honeysuckle is seeking a warm, organised and professional Medical Receptionist to join our small, supportive team in Bendigo, VIC. Our practice provides specialist care in women's health, gynaecology, surgery and fertility. This is a part-time position that plays a crucial role in creating a welcoming and efficient first point of contact for our patients. As Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for managing the reception area, scheduling appointments, handling patient inquiries, supporting our clinicians and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. Your warm professionalism and organisational skills will directly contribute to enhancing the patient experience and supporting the clinical team in delivering excellent healthcare services.

Our team comprises one specialist clinician onsite, two medical receptionists and one practice nurse. We work collaboratively, supporting one another to provide outstanding patient care. Every team member plays an important role, and we value kindness, respect, reliability and a willingness to help wherever needed.

Key responsibilities

- Greeting patients with a friendly and professional demeanour upon arrival at the clinic
- Managing the reception desk, telephone system and patient enquiries throughout the day
- Scheduling and confirming patient appointments using medical practice software
- Processing patient registration and maintaining accurate patient records and documentation
- Handling patient payments, invoicing and basic financial transactions
- Assisting with appointment reminders and follow-up communications
- Supporting the specialist and nurse by ensuring clinics run efficiently, and patients are prepared for appointments.
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to health privacy regulations
- Supporting the practice with general clerical duties as required

What we're looking for

- Previous experience working in a medical or healthcare reception environment is desirable but not essential




- Proficiency in using practice management software and Microsoft Office applications desirable but not essential
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a professional telephone manner
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care and support
- Attention to detail and accuracy when managing records and documentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team
- Understanding of patient confidentiality, privacy legislation and health sector compliance requirements
- A adaptable approach to work and willingness to support the team across various duties
- Desirable qualifications include a Certificate III or IV in Medical Administration, Office Administration or Customer Service
