Join Vertical Scope Group’s (VSG) client in Adelaide as we secure a driven, highly skilled and competent, NV1/NV2 Senior Software Engineer to join our award-winning team in supporting our long-term customer.

- Contract: Initial contract 6 months, with a likely extension through to December 2027
- Location: Adelaide, SA (Edinburgh Defence precinct) – onsite, with a minimum of 4 days per week
- Security Clearance: Active NV1 with the ability to obtain NV2

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Software Engineer to contribute to the modernisation of advanced capability systems that support Australia's national security. Working within a collaborative Agile team, you will design, develop and enhance high-performance software solutions that enable complex scientific and engineering outcomes. This role offers the prospect to solve technically challenging problems while contributing to projects of national significance in a secure Defence environment.

Your duties will include

- Design, develop, test and maintain software solutions for complex engineering applications
- Analyse business and system requirements and translate them into robust technical designs
- Develop full-stack solutions including user interfaces, backend services, databases and system integrations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams using Agile tools including Jira, Confluence and Git/Bitbucket
- Perform software testing, validation, defect resolution and configuration management activities
- Produce and maintain technical documentation while ensuring compliance with Defence standards and best practices





Skills and experience we are looking for

- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years' experience in software development and software modernisation projects
- Experience delivering full-stack applications, APIs, databases and modern software architectures
