About Umps
Umps makes personal alarms for older Australians and Current Zealanders. We're a small team of 13, and we work with aged care providers, retirement villages, and allied health professionals across Australia and Recent Zealand.
The role
We're a growing startup building modern marketing systems at the intersection of technology, AI and aged care, and are looking for a creative, reliable marketing assistant to help with our design and print work one to two days a week.
From your first few weeks you'll be making real things that go out to real customers. Our initial focus is consolidating our print and design materials: brochures, sales enablement resources, instructional pamphlets, graphic design for our product packaging, and supporting graphics and copywriting for our website. If you have a good eye and enjoy making things look and read well, you'll get plenty of scope to do it.
We're a small team, so your work matters and you'll see its impact quickly. This role suits both students and recent graduates. You'll receive clear briefs, and receive feedback to enable fast iterations on your designs. What matters is that you have a good eye, you're organised,
and you're happy to run with things once you know what's needed.
What you'll be doing
- Designing and refining brochures, instructional pamphlets and other print materials;
- Building sales enablement resources for our team and partners;
- Graphic design for our product packaging;
- Creating supporting graphics and writing copy for our website; and
- Other design and marketing tasks as they come up.
What we're looking for
- Studying at university or a recent graduate, ideally in graphic design, visual communication, marketing or a related field. A few years' experience is welcome but not required. A portfolio or samples of your design work are a real plus.
- A strong eye for design and a feel for good writing. You can tell when something looks and reads well, and you care about the details.
- Comfortable with design and everyday tools. We currently use Canva, but if you have other preferred tools (e.g. Adobe suite) we're comfortable with you using those.
- Detail-oriented: our audience is older people and their families, so clarity and accuracy matter.
- Happy to work with clear direction, taking some initiative once you know the ropes.
- Australian work rights (student and visa holders accepted, subject to your visa's work-hour conditions).
