We are seeking a skilled Payroll Officer to join the accounting and finance team in Melbourne within the healthcare industry. This role focuses on ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll while adhering to compliance standards.

Description

Reporting into the Payroll Team Lead, the successful Payroll Officer will be responsible for:

- Processing end-to-end payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payment.
- Maintaining payroll records and updating employee information within payroll systems.
- Ensuring payroll practices comply with relevant legislation, Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements, and company policies.
- Calculating and processing superannuation, PAYG withholding, salary packaging, and other payroll deductions.
- Responding to payroll-related queries and providing professional support to employees and stakeholders.
- Collaborating with HR, Finance, and other internal teams to improve payroll processes and reporting.
- Preparing and lodging payroll tax, workers' compensation, and other statutory obligations.
- Assisting with payroll reconciliations, audits, month-end reporting, and compliance requirements.

Profile

A successful Payroll Officer will have:

- Previous experience in end-to-end payroll processing,



ideally within a complex or high-volume workplace. Experience within the healthcare sector will be highly regarded.
- Hands-on experience with payroll systems such as PayGlobal, UKG, or SAP, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements, superannuation, PAYG, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience using payroll and HRIS systems to manage payroll data and reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies effectively.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across HR, Finance, and the wider business.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, meet strict deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
