Remuneration: $117,745–$147,664 per annum

This position offers twelve (12) months of accredited training in Rehabilitation Medicine. The trainee will provide a consultative and educational service on all matters associated with rehabilitation, as part of a multidisciplinary team. The trainee will assess the medical, physical, functional, psychological and social needs of patients, developing appropriate rehabilitation plans and resettlement supports.

About Orange Health Service

Orange Health Service is the largest rural hospital in NSW and a regional teaching, referral and trauma centre for the Central West. The hospital has a 520‑bed campus with 270 general beds and 60 specialised treatment areas and is affiliated with the University of Sydney and Charles Sturt University, maintaining an excellent record of success in professional exams and placement with metropolitan training programs.

Responsibilities

- Provide consultative and educational services across all aspects of rehabilitation medicine.
- Assess medical, physical, functional, psychological and social needs of patients.
- Develop and implement suitable rehabilitation plans and resettlement supports.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team and maintain accurate clinical records.
- Supervise and mentor junior trainees where appropriate.
- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, including work health and safety.

Qualifications and Experience

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- At least two years of postgraduate experience in a public hospital setting.
- Valid NSW Working with Children check.
- Cleared National Police check.
- Aged Care Check for Australian Government funded positions.
- Evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination policy.
- Compliance with work health and safety policies and procedures.




- Demonstrated orientation to rural or regional practice through life experiences, medical school or residency.
- Ability to work independently within a supervised workplace and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective oral, written and computer communication skills with strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
- Commitment to a career in Rehabilitation Medicine, Aged Care Medicine or an associated specialty, with intention to register with an appropriate professional body.
- Broad knowledge of orthopaedic, medical, surgical, and psychiatric issues affecting rehabilitation patients.
- Experience managing patients with cognitive impairment.
