Consultant – Business Development & Marketing

We are looking for an experienced consultant to join our Business Development team in Melbourne or Sydney.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

This role delivers a broad range of marketing and business development activities across designated practice and sector groups. Working in partnership with the Business Development Manager, the consultant contributes to the development and execution of strategic initiatives, supports client growth, market positioning, profile‑raising and engagement activities, and collaborates on firm‑wide projects with the Director of Business Development and Marketing.

Business Development

- Work with sector and practice groups to develop and implement a clear strategic business plan and identify opportunities with existing clients and prospects.
- Serve as key point of contact for allocated groups and provide operational support to implement BD plans, including campaign development, marketing material, event management and communications.
- Support the delivery of marketing and BD plans and budgets, keeping teams accountable to agreed activities and timelines.
- Maintain and update the firm’s CRM system, ensuring data accuracy to support marketing and BD plans.
- Collaborate with the BD Manager and groups on key client management planning.
- Assist in project managing bids, including drafting experience content and strategy discussions.
- Manage development of tenders and capability statements relevant to allocated groups.

Tenders & Bids

- Support the BD manager in project managing bids and drafting profiles.
- Manage development of tenders and capability statements.

Marketing

- Update and maintain firm website design and content related to practice and sector groups.
- Produce and publish social media content to support sector and practice communications.
- Draft award submissions to build profile and reputation in key sectors.
- Produce engaging communications pieces,



campaigns and content for external audiences to advance industry voice and brand.
- Deliver marketing collateral that communicates value proposition and represents firm brand.
- Write, edit, design and distribute materials including media releases and news stories.

Business Development Operations

- Maintain and oversee the Client Relationship Management (CRM) database.
- Liaise with external suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to reporting and insights for management.
- Support and coordinate sponsorship activities.
- Provide general administrative support as required.

Cyber and Information Security

- Maintain cyber security awareness, stay informed of emerging threats, apply best practices and take practical steps to protect the firm and clients; support ISO27001 accreditation.

Skills and Knowledge

- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of contemporary marketing trends and practices.
- Experience in practice development, capability statements, campaign management and tenders.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
- Advanced IT proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, CRM systems, EDM platforms, website CMS, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop).

Experience

- Minimum 4 years post‑qualification experience in business development, marketing or a related field.
- Experience working in a qualified services environment.
