About the Role A highly respected multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with an exceptional reputation across New Zealand is expanding into Australia and is seeking an experienced Technical Director – Civil Engineering to lead its Australian Civil Engineering division.

With an established client base and a strong pipeline of high-profile projects already secured, you'll be joining a business with genuine momentum in the Australian market. You'll work on the design and delivery of complex civil and infrastructure projects, supporting major commercial, residential, industrial, education and mixed-use developments alongside leading developers, architects and contractors.

Whether you enjoy remaining hands-on with technical design and project delivery or prefer leading a team, mentoring engineers and driving business growth, the role can be tailored to suit your strengths. The position is fully remote, with Melbourne-based candidates preferred to support local client relationships and future team growth.

Duties

- Lead the Australian Civil Engineering division.
- Provide technical leadership across complex civil and land development projects.
- Mentor and develop engineers.
- Build and strengthen relationships with clients, architects and project stakeholders.




- Drive business development and identify growth opportunities.
- Oversee project delivery and maintain technical excellence.
- Collaborate with the executive leadership team on strategic growth initiatives.
- Remain hands-on technically if desired.

About You

- CPEng Civil Engineer (essential).
- 7–10+ years' experience delivering civil engineering projects within the Melbourne market.
- Strong experience across land development, infrastructure, stormwater, roads, subdivisions and site development projects.
- Excellent knowledge of Australian Standards, local authority requirements and relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams or mentoring engineers.
- Strong commercial acumen and relationship-building skills.
- Business development experience is highly regarded.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Passion for building and growing a high-performing team.
