The Prospect

We're looking for an experienced Tech Lead to lead, coach, and develop a team of Software Engineers while driving the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-quality software solutions.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you'll lead a team of 4-6 engineers and play a key role in shaping both our technical direction and engineering culture. You'll balance people leadership with technical leadership, ensuring your team is supported, challenged, and empowered to deliver world-class products that make a meaningful difference to schools and educators worldwide.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys developing people as much as solving technical challenges. You'll work closely with Product Managers, Architects, and Engineering Leaders to deliver scalable SaaS solutions, improve engineering practices, and drive continuous improvement across the business.

What You'll Do

- Lead,



manage, mentor, and coach a team of Software Engineers
- Drive performance, career development, and growth across your team
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture focused on quality and continuous improvement
- Guide the design, development, and delivery of secure, scalable SaaS solutions
- Champion engineering best practices across software quality, security, performance, releases, and documentation
- Partner with Product, Architecture, and Engineering stakeholders to deliver valuable customer outcomes
- Support sprint planning, estimation, prioritisation, and agile delivery activities
- Recruit, onboard, and develop engineering talent, including early-career engineers
- Contribute to technical and architectural decision-making across the wider engineering function

What You'll Bring

- Proven experience leading, managing, and coaching Software Engineering teams is essential
- Strong people leadership skills, including performance management, mentoring, and career development
- Experience building and developing high-performing engineering teams
- Demonstrated success delivering SaaS products within an agile environment
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns,



and modern engineering practices
- Hands-on experience developing solutions using React, Java, and/or C#
- Experience building and integrating REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
- Robust knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD practices, and cloud-native development
- Experience working with both relational and NoSQL databases
- Understanding of modern development practices including feature toggling, release optimisation, and A/B testing
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
