A great chance exists for a Senior Lawyer to join our Insurance and Advice legal team on a 12-month fixed term contract. This role involves providing trusted, solution‑focused legal and regulatory advice to support our insurance business decisions, protect key assets, and achieve better outcomes for customers.
You will collaborate with teams across retail life insurance and corporate functions to support key initiatives, navigate regulatory complexity, and shape risk, governance and compliance practices. Your advice will enable innovation while ensuring compliance with evolving financial services regulations.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely, commercially focused legal advice on business initiatives and decisions
- Identify legal, regulatory and governance risks and provide clear, practical guidance
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts and support broader business negotiations
- Support complaints and disputes teams with advice on resolution and regulatory obligations
- Stay current on legislative and regulatory changes and share insights with the business
- Contribute to continuous improvement of legal processes and ways of working
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer with a current practising certificate in New South Wales
- Significant post‑qualification experience in financial services law, ideally within life insurance or advice
- Strong understanding of Australian financial services regulation and industry practices
- Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and advising on regulatory matters
- Proven ability to analyse complex issues and present clear, practical advice
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across all levels of a business
