About the Role
An excellent prospect for a motivated Assistant Accountant to join a growing business and support a broad range of finance, reporting, payroll, and compliance activities.
We are seeking a detail‑oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team, The A Team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across financial reporting, payroll, reconciliations, statutory compliance, and business support. You will work closely with the Financial Controller and CFO while building strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
About You
Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role.
Sound knowledge of general ledger codes, cost centres, and reconciliations.
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret financial information.
Experience with accounting software such as MYOB, Xero, and Microsoft 365 will be highly regarded.
Knowledge of Rippling payroll system will be an advantage but not essential.
Excellent attention to detail, time management, and problem‑solving skills.
Confident communication skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across the business.
A proactive, hands‑on approach with the ability to manage deadlines independently if & when required.
Basic knowledge of Bills of Materials and Australian Accounting Standards, including AASB/IFRS, will be highly regarded.
Experience in construction, manufacturing or infrastructure‑related industries will be viewed favourably.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date accounting records in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
Process fortnightly payroll accurately and within required timeframes.
Assist Financial Controller in the month‑end close process, ensuring deadlines are met and reporting is accurate.
Manage the fixed asset register and support capital expenditure reporting.
Maintain the general ledger and complete balance sheet reconciliations.
Assist with the annual year‑end audit process.
Support budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial analysis activities.
Assist with preparation of the company’s Sustainability Report.
Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting systems, reporting processes and finance workflows.
Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and provide practical finance support across the business.
Support the Financial Controller and CFO with ad‑hoc finance duties and business improvement projects as required.
