Senior Aquatic Ecologist – Perth

An exciting opportunity for a skilled Senior Aquatic Ecologist with at least 5 years' consulting experience to join our Perth office on a full time permanent basis. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for all aspects of project delivery including proposal preparation, leading fieldwork, laboratory work, data analysis and report writing, as well as mentoring junior freshwater ecologists.

Responsibilities

- Design, lead and contribute to projects across freshwater environments to achieve timely and high-quality outcomes
- Prepare technical reports and project proposals
- Manage small, routine technical projects or aspects of larger projects within committed timeframes
- Ensure work is complete and suitable for client delivery




- Undertake aquatic/water quality fieldwork in remote areas, field preparation, field team leadership and data collection
- Contribute to project implementation and technical leadership; mentor junior team members
- Demonstrate specialist knowledge in aquatic environmental services
- Ensure data management and collection procedures are accurate
- Apply univariate and multivariate data analysis techniques and prepare high-standard reports

Skills and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field; specialised study in freshwater ecology desirable
- 5 years' experience as an aquatic ecologist, biologist, zoologist or water quality specialist with knowledge of scientific data collection in aquatic ecosystems
- Experience in project management including budgeting and client liaison from inception to completion
- Enthusiastic and dedicated approach
- Driver’s Licence is essential
- Experience in macroinvertebrate identification to species level is advantageous
