About the role

We are seeking an experienced General Manager Finance/CFO to join Godden Food Group in Brisbane, Queensland. This is a full-time position that offers a strategic opportunity to lead our financial operations and contribute to the overall success of the organisation across our 2 sites QLD & NSW.

As General Manager Finance/CFO, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including planning, compliance, analysis, and reporting. This role is integral to the business, providing financial leadership and ensuring the company maintains strong fiscal health whilst supporting growth initiatives. You will report directly to senior leadership and play a key part in shaping the financial strategy of the organisation.

Key responsibilities

- Developing and implementing comprehensive financial strategies and plans aligned with organisational objectives
- Managing and overseeing all accounting and financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
- Preparing accurate and timely financial statements, reports and analysis for stakeholders and management
- Conducting financial forecasting, budgeting and variance analysis to support business planning and decision-making
- Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations and financial reporting requirements
- Managing relationships with external auditors, tax advisors and other financial service providers




- Overseeing internal controls and risk management frameworks to safeguard company assets
- Leading and mentoring the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
- Providing strategic financial advice to senior management on business opportunities, investments and operational efficiency
- Managing cash flow and working capital to optimise financial performance

What we're looking for

- Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or a related field (e.g. Bachelor of Commerce, CPA, CA or equivalent)
- Skilled accounting qualification such as Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) status, or equivalent recognised qualification
- Minimum 6 years' experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a CFO or General Manager Finance role
- Demonstrated expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and management accounting
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting requirements and taxation compliance
- Proven experience in managing and developing finance teams
- Experience working within the food industry or manufacturing sector is highly desirable
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide strategic financial insights
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Proficiency with financial systems and accounting software; experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is advantageous
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and process optimisation
