Valve Machining Workshop - Trades Assistant

Practon Mining is a Perth-based repair and distribution facility specialising in industrial valve repairs, modification, machining and control solutions for mining and process industries. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Workshop Trade Assistant to join our team. This position will commence at our Bayswater workshop and transition with the team to our new Guildford workshop as operations relocate.

About the role

- Learn to strip, assess, repair, and assemble industrial valves and associated mechanical components used across mining and process plants.

- Gain exposure to lathe work and general machining, working alongside experienced operators on precision components.

- Assist with using large, specialised workshop machinery involved in repairs, overhauls, and custom fabrication.

- Support day-to-day workshop operations, including cleaning, organising parts, and basic tool and equipment checks.

- Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a clean, safe, and efficient workshop environment.

- Genuine interest in mechanical and machining work, tools and how things are built and repaired.

- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to follow instructions carefully.

- Safety-first mindset, reliable and punctual, with good attention to detail.

- Suitable for a school leaver or early-career candidate looking to build a long-term trade or machining career.
