Salary: $94,368 – $117,984 + 12% superannuation (commensurate with experience)

Lead and deliver complex conservation treatments on a wide range of unique, heritage projects

International Conservation Services (ICS) is seeking two Senior or Principal Objects Conservators (depending on experience), commencing August 2026. One position will be based in Sydney and one position will be based in Brisbane. This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of complex, high‑profile conservation projects, combining hands‑on treatment with project management. Experience in outdoor and built heritage conservation is highly regarded.

The Team

Our teams in Sydney and Brisbane work across a wide spectrum of conservation projects for public institutions, corporate and private clients, covering sculptures, monuments, heritage sites and interiors, metal, organic and plastic objects, ceramics, stone and glass objects, archaeological objects and industrial artefacts. In addition to treatment work, we provide condition assessments, maintenance planning, and conservation advice across diverse heritage contexts.

The Role





This is a dynamic role combining practical conservation work and project management across both site‑based and laboratory projects.

- Deliver hands‑on conservation treatments across a wide range of materials and environments
- Lead and manage projects, including planning, budgeting and delivery
- Develop and advise on conservation methodologies in collaboration with team members
- Prepare quotes, reports, and technical documentation
- Coordinate subcontractors and project stakeholders
- Liaise with clients and maintain robust working relationships
- Support tender preparation and business development activities
- Ensure compliance with WHS requirements, including working at height and outdoor environments
- Mentor and support junior conservators

Projects may include public art, monuments, heritage buildings, industrial sites and complex objects, sometimes working in heritage buildings or outdoors.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing
- High attention to detail and a solutions‑focused approach

- Eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body
- Australian working rights and a current driver’s licence
