We are seeking a Senior Australian Public Practice Accountant in Business Services and Tax to manage a portfolio of SME clients; prepare and review complex financial statements and tax returns, and deliver strategic tax advice.

We are partnering with several Top 100, large boutique and smaller firms and the ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, with client-facing experience onshore in Australia.

The role bridges compliance and advisory, requiring CA ANZ/CPA Australia qualifications with at least 5 years of Public Practice Accounting experience working ongoing on business clients.

Core Responsibilities

- Compliance & Reporting: Prepare and review income tax returns and financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals.
- Taxation & Advisory: Manage FBT, CGT, and Div 7A implications, and assist with year-end tax planning and structuring.
- Client Management: Act as a key point of contact for clients, answering queries, and occasionally acting as an outsourced/Virtual CFO.
- Team Mentorship: Review the work of junior and intermediate accountants, providing technical on-the-job training and guidance.
- Workflow & WIP: Monitor job budgets, manage Work In Progress (WIP),



and report operational variances to Managers or Partners.

Qualifications & Experience

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business.
- Certification: Fully qualified or near-completion of CA (Chartered Accountants) or CPA (Certified Practising Accountants) Australia.
- Experience: Typically 5 to 10+ years of continuous experience within an Australian public practice accounting firm, working on business clients.
- Software Skills: High proficiency with contemporary cloud accounting and tax software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, Reckon, BGL, and HandiSoft).
