Role Description The VET Hospitality Trainer is a full-time, on-site role based in Melbourne, VIC. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality vocational training in hospitality, including developing lesson plans, delivering engaging classroom and practical sessions, and assessing learner competency against accredited units. The Trainer supports learners in building skills across customer service, front office operations, and food and beverage service, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Day-to-day responsibilities include mentoring learners, providing constructive feedback, maintaining accurate training and assessment records, collaborating with colleagues and industry partners,



and contributing to continuous improvement of training resources and delivery. The role also involves participating in professional development, engaging with diverse student cohorts, and promoting safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environments.

Qualifications

Demonstrated expertise in hospitality operations, including Hospitality Consulting and practical industry experience in relevant settings.

Strong Training and assessment skills, including experience delivering VET or TAFE programs and using competency-based training methods.

Proven ability in Customer Service, with a focus on service excellence, problem-solving, and dealing effectively with diverse clients and learners.

Operational knowledge of Front Office procedures such as reservations, check-in/check-out, and guest relations in hospitality environments.

Hands-on Food & Beverage service experience, including restaurant, bar, or café operations and understanding of hygiene and safety standards.

Relevant vocational qualification in hospitality (e.g., Certificate IV or higher) and a current TAE (Training and Assessment) qualification or equivalent.

Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage adult learners from diverse backgrounds.

Ability to work collaboratively within teaching teams, manage time effectively, and maintain accurate documentation and compliance with RTO standards.

Experience with blended or technology-enhanced learning and a commitment to ongoing professional development in hospitality and education.
