British & Irish Expats Rugby is seeking an aspiring sports videographer and/or digital media professional to help capture the journey to our historic inaugural fixture.
This volunteer opportunity will involve producing a short-form mini docuseries following The Expats as the team prepares for and takes the field in its first-ever match in late September 2026.
The successful applicant will be given behind-the-scenes access to training, team preparations and game day, helping tell the story of a new representative pathway from its earliest chapter.
The opportunity
You will work closely with the British & Irish Expats Rugby team to:
- Attend training sessions and club events in the lead-up to the fixture
- Attend and capture the inaugural match on 27 September
- Film player and staff interviews, training footage and behind-the-scenes content
- Help shape the creative direction and narrative of the series
- Edit the footage into a short series suitable for social media and digital platforms
- Capture the personalities, preparation and emotion behind the club’s journey
About you This opportunity would suit a university student, recent graduate or emerging sports media professional looking to build their portfolio and gain practical experience within a high-performance sporting environment.
You may be studying or building experience in:
- Videography and filmmaking
- Sports media
- Digital content production
- Journalism
- Communications
- Film, television or screen production
The ideal applicant will have a strong interest in sport and storytelling, along with strong filming and video-editing skills.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone creative, reliable and excited by the opportunity to help document the launch of an exciting recent program.

Commitment Applicants must be available to attend training sessions in Sydney during mid-late September, select events and the inaugural fixture on Sunday, 27 September 2026 in Western Sydney.
Editing and post-production work will also be required following filming to complete the series ready for publishing.
Please note that this is a volunteer prospect designed for an emerging professional seeking practical experience and portfolio development.
