Our client, Mustang Cottage Nepalese Indian Restaurant & Bar is looking for a skilled cook to join their team.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and cooking a variety of authentic Indian and Nepalese dishes in accordance with established recipes and menu requirements.
- Prepare authentic Indian and Nepalese dishes, cater to special dietary requirements, and train kitchen staff in traditional cooking techniques.
- Monitor the quality, consistency, and presentation of all dishes before service.
- Maintain high standards in flavour, ingredient selection, and plating to ensure fresh and quality meals.
- Discuss and resolve any food preparation or service issues with the restaurant manager and other staff to prevent recurrence.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth coordination between the kitchen and dining area.
- Conduct regular tastings and quality checks to ensure dishes meet the restaurant’s standards.
- Manage kitchen costs by monitoring ingredient usage, reducing waste, and controlling expenses.
- Assist the Chef in maintaining an efficient and well‑organised kitchen.
- Supervise purchasing of ingredients, equipment, and supplies while working within budget limits.
- Ensure proper inventory management, safe handling, storage, and disposal of all food items.
- Comply with all food safety and workplace health and safety regulations.
- Maintain consistent food quality and service standards while considering customer feedback.
Qualifications and other requirements
- Certificate III or equivalent in Hospitality or relevant field
- 3 years of full-time relevant experience working in a hospitality industry as a Cook
- Ability to lead and work effectively as part of team
- Ability to work independently and without supervision
- Ability work with flexible schedule including weekends
Salary range: $75,000 to $85,000
